Mickey has worked consistently as Shantell Martin's assistant and mentee whenever she is in New York, for over the past five years. Martin is one of the most recognized contemporary visual artists working today, known for her fluid, spontaneous linework and immersive installations across the globe.

Mickey Roberts was featured in Nikitin Gallery's May 2026 catalogue as one of the emerging artists to watch in 2026. The bio, written by Daniel Nikitin, positioned Roberts at the forefront of emotionally authentic, expressive figuration in the current collector market.

A collaboration with rug tufting company RUGGY (a.k.a. Scattered Kind) for a solo exhibition titled "Just Being" — Mickey's original artwork translated into handmade rugs, embodying the softness of the emotional spectrum. "Everything you can feel is undeniably you, even the feelings you don't much like. It's up to you to embrace those parts of yourself and give them the affection they need and deserve."

Solo exhibition at Dot Gallery at 368 Broadway, New York. The show presented a concentrated body of work exploring Mickey's signature expressive figuration — bold linework, raw emotionality, and the strange poetry of everyday life. Dot Gallery has since closed.

As an avid rock climber, Mickey was thrilled to display his "Faces of Doubt" series at Vital Manhattan Gym. "Faces of Doubt" is an externalization of the things we say to ourselves in our weaker moments. It is easier to work through outside criticism than the self-deprecation that comes from inside your own head.

Mickey displayed rotating original artwork for a full year at Bird in Hand Tavern in Harlem, bringing his work into the neighborhood and building a local collector base through sustained visibility in the community.

Mickey was selected to showcase three original works — Out of the Box, Fish Meets God, and Boy in Mind — in a group exhibition at Van Der Plas Gallery. The show brought together emerging New York artists working in expressive and figurative traditions.

Mickey's second collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing for their Artist Series. His original artwork was featured on the label for their IPA "Jukebox," bringing his expressive visual language to a limited-edition craft beer release distributed across New York.

On February 28th, 2022, Mickey paired up with Superlost Coffee Roasters co-founder David Roa to be featured in their Artist Series — a platform dedicated to spotlighting independent New York artists and the community around them.
